This Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Susan & Chris. The ceremony took place at St. Augustine Cathedral in Downtown Tucson and the reception was held at Desert on the Lodge. The entire time Susan was getting ready she was cool calm and collected. She looked so beautiful (I still think she’s a real-life princess) and peaceful. It was all about the little details with Chris & Susan as she had her shoes made to match Chris’s tartan patterned jacket. Their wedding was simple, filled with love and had details that honored their heritage and family traditions. Susan’s niece sang a beautiful, powerful, and moving “Ave Maria” that had a few people teary-eyed (myself included); I was also stunned at her powerful voice coming from such a small body. After the ceremony, they choose to enjoy donuts at Irene’s Holy Donuts on 4th. Such fun and amazing people, they sat down and enjoyed the most awesome donuts. The reception was equally amazing as these two are all about family, tradition, and honor. Chris’s father gave a beautiful and funny speech and provided them with a cake that he created and decorated that was embellished with their family crest. While everyone was dancing and Susan’s dad was putting everyone to shame with his amazing salsa dance skills; my favorite was when her mom and dad were showing Chris’s mom and dad how to salsa dance. It was such a beautiful thing to see two families come together and enjoy each other the way that their families did.
